Woot! Just got called into a meeting today with my boss and the head of IT and was given a bonus for the work I did last year on optimising the client/server connection with our software and also a 10% pay rise  Woop! I have been thinking recently of moving out into a flat on my own and I'll be putting more thought into that now and getting something rolling hopefully

Thanks guys! The strange thing is the pay rise is not the thing that's making me happiest. The thing I like the most is the feeling that what I have done has made an effect and it has been appreciated by other people I know it sounds cheesy but the positive comments were probably worth more than the pay rise!

Well done fella. Its this kind of thing that makes me wish I didnt work for the Public sector. Even though I outperform my colleagues both at my level and above there is no actual reward. Salaries are tied to scales, promotions are non-existant and any opportunities are open to all in the interests of fairness, etc.
