I know it's not much of a problem as such, but going on the basis that my laptop has released the mysterious blue smoke of death, I think I need a new laptop. :P. It's been a good old thing, having had it about 4 years or so, and it used to be left on 24/7 either folding, downloading or both. :)

So, I need a new laptop. I use it for school too, as the school has immensely long lecture classes in Geography (what I took), and the teacher allows us to bring a laptop in in order to get notes. I have about £60 from easter, and a further £40 or so which my mum + dad are willing to lend me. I'm not going to be afford a new one, so what should I do?

I could trawl ebay, but a) I haven't got paypal and b) most of the stuff is crap.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Adam :)

I'm afraid it looks like your only options will be to a.)Trawl the bay looking for a good deal b.)Look for other places you may find some second hand laptops c.)Wait until you have more money to buy a laptop.

Sorry that's not massively helpful but I don't know of any other options.

Depends if it’s an air brick or not, I suppose.

£100 really won't buy much.

Check out the most recent issue of CS; it's got a decent feature on cut-price laptops.

Budget Buy - Asus X59GL

Best Buy - Samsung R510

I think eBay might be an almost correct indication of the market...
Having said that, I'm picking up a G3 iMac today for 30 quid, eBay are still selling them for just over 100!

Check the local papers, and make sure friends check papers for you...

Yeah, I was looking into that. But we live in a crap 3G area, and our Broadband has like 18 months left on the contract. :P Thanks anyway.

Err, if a GeForce 7300GT and a Sound Blaster 16 will do ya, then yes. :)
