Has anyone any experience of Microsoft Intune?

Just trying it out on my smartphone. You have to install the Microsoft COmpany Portal app under Android. Once installed, it sets policies and allows you to restrict app usage or install custom applications.

All great.

Intune also allows you to remotely lock the device or wipe it.

Excellent.

Except, I just tried something "basic", I uninstalled the MCP app, it didn't stop me, well, I had to deactivate it first, but no password or even the owner's PIN required. Gone.

I then tried a remote wipe. As expected, it did nothing.

So, what is the point of Intune, if the first thing the user (or a thief) does is uninstall the app?

Am I missing something basic in the configuration of InTune? Shouldn't it stop itself being disabled / deinstalled?

We use it here but I haven't had any need to wipe a phone yet

The wipe works well enough, assuming the user / thief hasn't manually deleted the profile from the device - iOS simply asks the user for his PIN number, before deleting the remote management profile.

You've not missed anything, it's the problem all MDM's have on mobiles.

Only way around it is to provision the phone originally with something like Apple Configurator.

Thanks, that's was the conclusion I had come to...

Which means, buying a Mac, which will upset the IT manager, purchasing and accounting.

Getting all the company phones back from their users (upsetting them),
Reset the phones and re-provision them with Apple Configurator (really p***ing them off)
Hand out the phones again...

:?

Set a restriction on deleting apps via MDM?

That seems to be the most requested feature for the last 3 years...
