In Outlook 2011 and in Outlook 20xx for Windows you can search emails using options such as "from:" "to:" etc. to help refine the search.

E.g. "from: big_D" would only list emails from big_D.

My CEO has upgraded to 2016 and now this no longer works. He isn't here, so I can't play with it to find out and I don't have a Mac capable of running Office 2016...

Does anybody know if they have changed the filter commands on the Mac version?

Have you read this page:
https://support.office.com/en-US/articl ... 78CBB8F1CB
(See the bit near the bottom of the page : "Search from your Inbox")

Also, try Spotlight for searching emails?

Thanks, but doesn't really cover what is happening here.

The search of the inbox can be restricted with keywords, so that searching for a name isn't searching for a contact, it searches for all emails. You can refine that with keywords like "from", "to", or even "date", "subject" etc. and it will only search those specific fields of the emails for matches. That seems to not be working in Outlook 2016 at the moment.

Ah, OK, sorry - I misread the question. I didn't realise you could do that anyway!

Hmm, maybe it is broken in the German localisation... I'll see if I can test it, when he comes back in the office.

Thanks.
