I'm wanting to plug in an SSD I bought (internal drive) to the eSATA port on my laptop.
Is there a special cable for that or will and old SATA cable from a desktop PC (internal connection) do?

My question is: I own a Dell Insprion 14R (n4010) and wondering if I can, through the existing esata port, connect a sata III Crucial (CT128M4SSD2) 128GB solid state drive with an appropriate cable. Also, how do I know if my laptop with be compatible with sata III? Thanks for your help. David

You will need to go for SATA to e-SATA connectors to connect the hard drive to the system. Dell Inspiron N4010 is compatible with SATA II (3 Gbps) hard drives. You can connect SATA III hard drives. However the hard drive will downgrade to SATA II speed and transfer the data from the system to hard drive at SATA II speed.

Does that help? I'm well out of touch...
