Hi,

I bit of an urgent request for information... I need to connect to the home PC tomorrow, from the office, as I have to do some work on a locally installed app, which I cannot install at work. The app I use to connect needs to be web based, and the app I am running on my home PC is Java based, (again on the web) but I can't install Java at work, (lack of permissions) so what are my options? I do have a couple in mind, but I'd rather not risk influencing anyone's opinions at this stage.

Oh, it also has to be a free solution!

Thanks in advance.

:D

Sounds like a job for the browser version of TeamViewer
http://www.teamviewer.com/mailings/onli ... or_en.html

There's Chrome remote desktop too, but that has given me ball ache a couple of times getting it to start properly on the remote host

Seconded, TeamViewer is what we use. Just remember to set it up at home before you go to work, so that you can log onto it - otherwise somebody at home will need to start the session for you and give you the access number and PIN.

Thanks guys. I had already installed team viewer, and have just demoed it to the wife, using my phone. She seems happy with that.

I thought it worth asking the question, as you may have seen a new solution that I haven't yet heard of.

Thanks again. Case closed.

Would have recommended Logmein until they stopped the free service and made it subscription only, giving only a week's notice to everyone. Did use teamviewer for a bit after that but have since stopped logging into work from home.

I'll have a closer look at this later, but at first glance it seems to be a bit of an overkill. This was literally connecting to the home PC from the work PC. I tested it from work yesterday, and it worked.

Thanks for the suggestion though. I will have a proper look at this when I get a minute, as free stuff from Meraki/Cisco can't be a bad thing.
