So I've just got a new PC, previously a Mac.
Machine has Windows 8.1

Question 1
Good idea to set up a local Admin account then use my Microsoft Account as a standard user for normal use?

Question 2
I'm after some backup recommendations. On my Mac I used Time Machine and also did a weekly backup to an external hard drive using SuperDuper (which I kept off-site). Equivalent on Windows?
The machine has a SSD boot drive and separate HDD data drive and a spare HDD that I got for backup purposes. I also have my external drive I was using on my Mac which I can reformat for use on the PC once I'm satisfied all my files are safely across.

I just use SyncToy - free software by Microsoft.

You create folders pairs - the left being the folder you want copied and the right where it is copied to.

Dead easy to use.

1. Yes. It is bad practice, even with UAC, to run as administrator on Windows, just as it is on a Mac.

2. I used to use Acronis Non-Stop Backup. It works like Time Machine. But I now just use Microsoft SyncToy to an external drive and NAS. For off site I use Carbonite, which I also used to use on my Mac.
