'lo childs,

I'm moving at the end of this month to a place that isn't cabled for Virgin Media, so I can't transfer my current ISP to the new place.
I've checked out BT Infinity fibre optic whatever it is, and apparently it's available at the new address, but I was wondering if there was any better services out there before I call BT and sign with them.

What other packages are on the market these days?
I don't really want/need a landline, but if it helps lower the cost then I'm totally open to those sorts of packages.

I've been using Virgin Media since 2009 so I've no idea what's available to me.

Hoping you can help,

Mark

If Virgin cable isn't available, BT Fibre is the best you're going to get. ADSL (even the ADSL2+ stuff) can't get anywhere neat it for speed.

As for getting a landline, I suspect you'll have to pay line rental to get BT infinity anyway, so you're effectively paying for it so you might as well have it.

You can get BT's fibre broadband infrastructure from a number of different providers, not just BT.
Any ISP that uses the BT network should be able to provide an equivalent service to BT.

I know Zen Internet do so but they will be more expensive than BT. Just depends on whether or not you want to deal with BT or someone else who's tied to Openreach.

BT Infinity it is.
Engineer visit scheduled.
Time to see if BT is better than its reputation suggests.

It's an organisation of two halves. The infrastructure is actually pretty good. The customer service is beyond appalling. I put up with terrible Internet at home just not to have to deal with them if I have an issue. I can't put into words how bad an organisation they are, but they pretty much offer the best actual Internet if cable isn't in your area.
