The MD of the company I work for has an iPhone 4. He's had trouble with using it abroad and has no data and I think no calling or texting at all. I've just been to have a look and he's running 4.3.3 so I have suggested updating to the latest OS. However, my suspicion was that he had set the network manually. I went into the carrier settings but there was no on/off switch on the bar that says "Automtaic". On mine I can (and always have been able to) turn off Automatic and select a network manually. Or turn on Automatic and let the phone do it's own thing. Any ideas why he wouldn't have the switch to turn this on/off?! He's on T-Mobile if that makes any difference? |

Cool. He's gone now. I'm going to upgrade the phone on monday to 5.1 and I'll get the carrier settings sent to him by T-Mobile. Thanks |

Just been in the MD's office for the past hour. We contacted t-mobile about getting the settings sent over and they said they would do it... they didn't. That was on Monday. I went onto the T-Mobile website today and found out why they didn't... you can't. The only settings you can "send to an iPhone" are the SMS settings. Everything else is done via software update. So, I just spent the last hour updating iTunes and his iPhone on his PA's laptop. I backed it up about 17 times before doing any update ![]() Anyway, it now shows the little on/off switch in carrier settings and I have left it as Automtaic on so next time he's abroad it should work with no problems ![]() Thanks |
