At the office until 5.30, but don't worry I am consuming copious amounts of cake. :)

I really don't know why we have this thread... Taking up room imo!

You may not have seen the set up in the other place before it was closed down. The FPOTD thread is one of the more popular of our regular threads, it's a place for people to make their entry onto the board each day, they say hello, give us a brief rundown of what's going on in their lives and share news that hasn't really got any other place in the forum (like new baby or new job announcements) We're a community and take interest in each others lives, so the FPOTD thread is quite important to a lot of us.

The rule is that you can't post in the FPOTD thread unless it is your very first post of the day in this forum, you only post once; so no replying (there is a "Reply to the FPOTD thread" thread for that) you just give us a snap shot of your day before joining the melee of the rest of the board. Equally, if you don't want to then don't, but if you want to join in, just make sure you do the FPOTD thread before you comment elsewhere in the forum.

Anyway, all of the threads take up room!?!?

And none of the other threads take up any room? :?

The FPOTD thread is a long-running and much-loved one. Threads come and go, some stay the course. ;)

Happy Birthday Blue! Shame you've got work, but hope you've something nice planned for this evening?

One thing I've been wondering, does the day go from 12 midnight to 12 midnight? My interpretation has been very much as I interpret "today", "tomorrow" and "yesterday".
My internal rules say: If it's 12:05am then it's still today if I'm awake. If I go to sleep at say 11pm and wake up at 2am, it's tomorrow. If I still haven't been to sleep and it passes 6am, it's tomorrow.

I know on at least one occasion I've posted at 12:05am'ish and then posted in the FPOTD thread later at around 8am and nobody deleted my post...

Surely an oversight. ;)

My impression is the "day" runs midnight to midnight.

I take a new day to mean when I wake up after a prolonged period of sleep, in my nephews terms it's a "big sleep" so whether it's 6am or 2pm, if I've just got up then it's a new day (to me)

Well I'm just going out for a few quiet drinks this evening with some friends who couldn't make it tomorrow. Tomorrow is when we realy have plans; got a coach taking 20odd of us to Brighton, all dressed in suits/posh frocks, hitting the casino there and then probably out for a few drinks before heading back

I'd say that's fine, and the 'rules' you've posted above about 'today','tomorrow', 'yesterday' sound like a pretty good set to follow.
