Which one? Was just gonna get a Sony W995 for ease, but they don't do it any more and know I've been offered unlimited data, so starting to think about something smart. HTC Desire? Do I really want a Crackberry?

Don't get much email, but full Exchange/SBS07 compatibility would be nice (though not essential). Aside from that, need a good camera and anything else is just because I can really.

All I actually need is calls, the odd text, photos and the odd email. But if somebody else is paying, seems rude not to.....

They're calling me this afternoon. What would you get?

I would get the Nokia 2330. It's reliable and needs charginf once a year ;)

If they want you to receive emails they should supply a blackberry or laptop.

For ease of use and Exchange compatibility, you can't do better than the iPhone. The Crackberry needs a secondary BES server to be installed, it won't communicate directly with Exchange. The iPhone is streets ahead of the Windows Mobile devices, and until Windows Phone 7 comes along, that won't change. Our Blackberry users who have converted to iPhone love them, much better than their Blackberrys.

Otherwise, I'd go with the Desire, if the iPhone isn't an option. It is supposed to have relatively good Exchange support, although not as easily integrated as the iPhone, from what I understand, but it is improving with each new release of the Android OS - the Nexus One would be a better bet, in that you can install the new release straight away, but you don't get the htc Sense frontend. The new Motorola Droid X is also very good, but probably not available on Orange yet.

Just to say I'm in the middle of a large migration from a mish mash of systems to an exchange (2010) system and the recent Android phones have been no problem at all. A couple of people who had early ones (G1 & HTC Hero) have had a few problems but if you buy an Android phone today I suspect the exchange support will be fine.

Apparently the iPhone camera is pretty good. Though emil could be a problem, though it might have exchange access now. Or you could use webmail. It depends on how much email you might get.

Both the desire & the iphone support exchange fine.
THe desire can be a bit of a pain to setup if exchange isn't configured how it wants it to be but apart from that it does a good job.

It got Exchange with iPhone OS 3. I think it got multiple Exchange accounts with iOS4. I know I've been getting my GMail through Exchange for quite a while now, no problem.

Thanks Jon. Like I said, email's not essential, but if I'm getting something "smart" I might as well have it.

Dave, iPhone really isn't an option on a cost basis AND because I still refuse to go near iTunes for Windows. I do acknowledge it probably has the best UI though.

John, the 2330 would be great if I had a good camera and did email!!

Well it's all relative - I've never seen a phone camera I would actually describe as more than average tbh - but the iPhone 4 camera is at least 'as good as most of the competition'. The 3GS and before have cameras that are little better than a cardboard box with a hole punched in it.

In iOS 3 and 4 the exchange support is as good as a windows mobile or android phone's, because they basically all use the same protocol, licensed from MS. I have seen a couple of people here who have problems with iPhones and the calendar functionality but nobody has had a problem with email at all.

Two of my colleagues have just got the Desire - the email is working well. Haven't tried the camera.

Best of all, they both downloaded a free Star Wars lightsaber app which makes swooshing and clashing noises when you swirl the phone around. The entire day was lost to mock battles, with the music of the Darth Maul/Obi-Wan battle in the background 8-)

I've been using Exchange Support for over a year without any issues, I think you are looking back at the iPhone and iPhone 2, maybe. The 3G and 3GS haven't had any problems for a long time - although one update did temporarily mess up SSL links with self signed certificates.

I've got a BB for work and its great, functional and just works. I've got a desire for personal and that's great but it eats battery charge.

I haven't read the whole thread as I CBA but my Nokia 5800 (symbian S60) has exchange support. It was cheap too compared to iPhone/BB/HTC.

Right, wanted the Desire. Asked them for it and they don't have stock. Shocker.

He thinks Orange now have stock, but are doing their QC on it before it goes out. iPhone was checked in case, but it's just ludicrously expensive. In the meantime, Galaxy S anyone?
