I’m on this ghastly job again. Last year, I hacked a good £200 off my insurance, this year I’m not as lucky. Looks like I’ve hit a floor. Renewal and two other companies (SwiftCover - current insurers, Admiral and AXA) all come in at about the same price. Any other suggestions? I’m not trying price comparison web sites. Last year I did and started getting phone calls pushing me into making a decision then and there, so this time I’m not going down that route. I’m aiming for under £490 fully comp. What do others with loony mobiles use? |

I thought I'd give Churchill a call to see if I can save anything off what I'm currently paying to Swiftcover. The total payment (10 months) to Swiftcover is £610. The total insurance cost (lump sum i.e. no interest) through Churchill is over £1100!!! |

The last two years I've found KwikFit Insurance the cheapest - first year was £409 for a 1.4 Fiesta, this year it went up a bit to £480. But, taking into account the free MOT you get with it plus one free oil change (which adds up to about £75) then it works out pretty good value. You also get a KwikFit Discount Card which gives you 10% off any KwikFit services - useful if your tyres or exhaust needs replacing soon. |

Yes. steve74 - KwikFit’s choice of tyres for my care is pathetically poor, the cheapest of the two on offer being £200 a throw. I’ve been using BlackCircles to get me the same tyres for £100 a go, with fitting. |

BlackCircles is good. I used them last year. I'm not looking forward to this year's insurance game, so I will follow suggestions in this thread with interest. |

I moved from Direct Line to Swiftcover and saved £200. I did use one of the comparison sites and Swiftcover was the lowest overall when all the various bits were taken into account. It now costs me £420 instead of over £600. |

Everytime I go to these companies direct (Aviva, Direct Line, Tesco and others) I get stupid quotes. My best renewal this year was Hastings (on Confused.com). I also didnt get any phone calls pestering me but there's time yet

Well, this might not work, but I'm with Brentacre. They're in Swansea and they're a small broker with an actually geographical phone number! Very knowledgeable and helpful. I have a group 16 Octy vRS with 6 points and a fault claim in the last 5 years, 4yrs protected NCB for £550 (oh and it's a modified policy). I'm 28. They specialize in Dubs, but I think anything high performance/less common might be up their street. Of course if that doesn't work, there's always HIC/Adrian Flux and Chris Knott. |

I used one of the insurance websites, I can't remember which and managed to save a bit. I haven't been bothered with phone calls either. Adrian Flux didn't get anywhere, even with my 10% owner's club membership discount, Didn't try Chris Knott. I ended up with Bell through whichever comparison website I used, which worked out at £550 with nine points. Which I think is pretty damned good, but then I live in a fairly rural area. |

Put a quote through Aviva - and already they are on the phone trying to push me into buying the policy. Told them it was far too high - even WITH their 2 months free cover. I’m hating this activity more and more. If I want to speak to a motivated by commission monkey on a bad line, I’ll call them myself. I am using the websites to AVOID that kind of pressure. I just told them that I have not yet made my mind up and I am still investigating. |

To be fair on Aviva, I Tweeted about my experience, and was asked by them to forward details a little later on. So a polite email to them explaining my thoughts on more than 140 characters has been sent. It is a problem - when you are looking at insurance things, you need time to read the fine print and see if the policy lets you do what you want it to do, and a rapid response call does not help in this kind of situation. They want to make a quick sale, but I’m not up against the clock here. I have a few weeks to sort this out. |
