Post subject:  amusing ebay situation.
A number of days ago..

I purchased a watch from the high street for £35, its a standard make watch, I made sure to pick a nice one, also I purchased from tesco a external hard drive (smaller than 1tb).

For one reason or another I have listed them on ebay (seperately) and have indicataed I will include the sales recept for the HDD.

The problem is the watch cost £35 yet it is currently at £33,75 , and the drive was £49 yet it is currently at £45.

This is a highly strange situation to be in, I am in danager of having to ship some one a drive with a sales recept (from tesco) whos price is at (including the postage of £5) or higher than they could have got it from tesco.

What do I do if the drive raises above £50, talk about a forehand slap moment :mrgreen: when they read the recept.

Im also very surprised about the watch, it looks like im going to lose next to no money on either item and maybe make a small profit.

That would be the "best" thing to do.

If you wanted to though, I can't see why anything could stop you taking the money. You just listed the item, they put the bid above the RRP on so you have done nothing wrong. I'd still recommend offering them the money back but you don't have to IMHO.

It's entirely up to the buyer to bid what they feel comfortable with. I'd feel no guilt, personally.

Same here, there's no way in hell I'd offer to refund the money just because somebody was stupid enough to pay over the odds.

ive just been hitting refresh on ebay and the hdd drive, no lets do this properly.

Maxtor 500gb bought at tesco for £49 sold on ebay for £65, postage at £5 for 1st class sign for, he opted not to do insured at extra few quid I forgot if signed for has it I think it does to £30 any why that is ruining the sentance more than being interesting.

An Argos Casio divers watch,£35, sold on ebay for £45, plus £7.25 for international signed for, guy is in brazil.

I just made £25 on ebay by buying stuff on the high street and putting it ebay, I mean this makes you think, My dad actual buys and sells a type of antique (kitchen pots type of stuff) on the side.

I am not a buying and selling man, but I sure can see why people have shop fronts now, if you work full time and have even a slight spark of life in your brain Im sure you can make an extra £25 to £500, maybe more a month...?

This is why, if I want to buy something, I will cross check the prices across other online stores.

With ebay, I will look at the item and then compare the prices with online prices for new items. I will only buy from ebay if:

1. it's unobtainable elsewhere
2. it's significantly cheaper than buying new/elsewhere (incl. postage)

Had I bid for that HDD, my max bid would be in 50-65% range of item had I bought it new (£30 for your HDD). Otherwise save the hassle.
