I can't hold the inner grammar cop back any longer. Sorry. :D

I see this so often now, it screams in my pedantic proof-reading head. The noise is becoming unbearable.

There is no "a" in definite. It might sound that way when pronounced, but it's not correct.

I blame David Gray. :roll:

That's it, rant over. Carry on. Thank you.

I have so many "soapbox" rants about basic spelling and grammar it's always a bad idea to get me started.

What also gets me is when people write "Here, here!" instead of "Hear, hear!" :x

That's rather amusing, if a little more of a niche issue.

Unless, of course, it's a footballer indicating where he wants the ball passing to, in which case it's fine.

:P

I find it morsomt when foreign english type lazy and say words like "'ere" and "yh" instead of "yeah" and "init" instead of isint it, and "wot" instead of "what" etc :shock:

morsomt ... WHAT?!?

isint = isn't

Shouldn't English be spelt with a capital "E" ?

I won't ask whether type should have an "S" at the end.

Their are just too many odd spellings in English, and its normal to get a few wrong from time to time.

Rather than just pointing out the mistakes, could people perhaps help to educate as to proper usage?

Personally, I want to make my posts as readable as possible, I know that I don't have the best written skills and have problems getting my point across when writing, but I think I'm getting better every year. I know I could go away and 'Google' it, but if an explanation was given for why I got something wrong, I'd be more likely to take note, and I'm sure others are the same.

Many thanks :)
