Grrrr, I watched it last night and was then all worked up. SHUT UP, IT'S NOT YOUR TURN TO TALK! And when it is your turn, ANSWER THE QUESTION STRAIGHT, no fancy frilly bits please... Grrrr, I hate listening to verbal debates, someone always has to butt in

Ming Campbell, Margaret Beckett, dep ed of the Torygraph and chief exec of MacDonalds UK. Guess which one of those got the most stick. (Hint: she was the only one in a dress.) Actually, I watched it on iPlayer this morning, and I'd like to propose David Dimbleby as Speaker of the Commons, and that he gave out the brickbats quite fairly to all the guests. Only Head Burger Boy seemed to come out of it with any dignity at all. |

I thought the stance of the CEO of McDonald's was a bit rich, I bet he's never fiddled his expenses. I thought some of the audience heckling was unfair tbh. Of course MPs should be able to claim for second homes - I wouldn't expect my MP to travel to Truro and back. The hotel idea is just stupid - not only would it work out more expensive, but what happens if the MP can't get a room!? |

I suppose there'd be a block booking to cover the maximum number of MPs likely to need rooms. I think it's a very good idea - like the idea of using the Olympic village after the games in 2012. They could run a special Gravy Train from east London to Westminster.

In Australia they have build a special hotel with good facilities almost opposite their parliament building - don't know why our parliament did not buy the old GLC building when it went up for sale some time back - they could have purchased it and turned it into either a big hotel or lots of apartments for the MP's to use. |

That would have been an incredibly sensible thing to have done. Only we now know why such sensible options were never entertained in the past. The temptation and reliance on the public cookie jar was too ingrained. |

The GLC building was talked about on QT as well. The idea of having an apartment if you are an MP sounds good. Lose your seat, lose the rooms. What I am finding galling is that they are all finding multiples of thousands of pounds to pay back at the drop of the hat, and some are crassly waving cheques on TV to prove it. Some seem to have more than the average annual salary kicking about. |
