It’s gone completely. Not even the message saying the board is closed.

Does that yellow diamond thing mean "men at work"? You would have thought that they could use a UK road sign

my last post in the meeting place was not very complimentary but it about summed up my feelings in regard to the lack of any consultation in its complete closure
the other thing i missed was posting the news items in the comments forum before they posted themselves they locked the forum so nobody could post any new threads and then made a dogs dinner of it afterwards
it will be interesting to see how much they have messed up when it re-opens, minus the meeting place …

I think I know the answer to that; a lot. With a lot of the long term members over here now, it's unlikely at least at first that there will be any established community there whatsoever. I also haven't found one person in favour of the idea yet.

Quite a few people virtually lived in the news / comments area amnesia for example he was always great value.

I think amnesia was MacUser and pcernie was computer shopper? Between them, they accounted for about 50% of the comments but now they may never speak again.
The other big comment forum posters I guess were Marklar, Gavomatic and BigD. I can't see Marklar logging in via the PC portals. It could be very painfully quiet in there, unless everyone agrees to use the MacUser portal and ignores the others. They all had the same articles anyway!

They're both signed in here, so it may yet come to pass.

Pcernie usually turned up via PC Pro - and I'm not sure about 50%, but we did post a lot I'll take a look at the comments on the sites when they're back up and running, but to be honest I was finding it harder and harder to devote time to reading the Dennis articles and comments, and there won't be much point going back if you're about the only one in it And don't worry, I've got Amnesia's email address Here's as good a place as any to say I'm really chuffed with this place

I don't think it could have been. Amnesia alone accounted for about 80% of the comment forum's post count!
