Just checked, apparently Clone Wars the cartoon is canon with the films

It's still all a bit confusing though, as apparently cartoon Clone Wars only keeps some of the stuff from the novels etc that were considered canon and ditches the rest. And even some of the novels and so on are questionable as of recently

The recent Clone Wars, or the Tartakovsky ones?

Now I'm even more confused

Tartakovsky made two (IIRC) long form 'clone wars' period cartoons. The story threads of those shows were then picked up by another party who made the successful 'clone wars' CGI TV series which I think ran for five seasons. TBH I'm not sure why you'd consider one canon and one not - they follow the same characters in the same period and they're very consistent with each other.
Tartakovsky's Clone Wars were 5 minute shorts. He cut down a few episodes of Samurai Jack to show George Lucas what could be done story telling wise, and was given the gig. They could have been edited together into longer pieces, but when Cartoon Network showed them, they were pretty much shoe horned into the ad breaks at the top of the hour. Any they were really rather good.

Yes, well, they were 5 minute shorts originally but they got recut together into two one hour films, which is what you can now get on DVD.

Volume One
Volume Two

They introduce a few characters (Asohka Tano and Asajj Ventris for two, I think there may be others) who carried over to the later Clone Wars CGI which in story terms follows on pretty much straight from the Tartakovsky efforts. I don't think you could logically claim the latter are canon but the former aren't, because then those characters would have no origin story.

Trevorrow To Shoot 'STAR WARS: EPISODE IX" On Film, But... — Latino-Review.com
http://www.latino-review.com/news/trevo ... n-film-but

Now, I'm averse to CGI so I'm a bad judge, but you go with that analysis? :|

I think any disconnect with JP was likely down to the film being... a bit crap, apparently.

Hahahahahahaha Oh man, stop it, you're killing me.

To get to your question ... the article says the audience felt a disconnect when watching Jurassic World, and yet that film was the all-time box-office number 1 at US cinemas until The Force Awakens got released.
I'm not seeing much of a disconnect there.
CG in major Hollywood films these days is generally very good, but in my opinion it's the blending of that CG into the live action that causes the issues.
The Force Awakens used CG sparingly - hence the reliance on so many practical elements being constructed.
I can understand the desire to want to keep shooting on film, even if that's just from the continuity aspect to the original trilogy, there's an aesthetic that should be maintained throughout the series of films, but if due care and attention is paid to the integration of CG elements into a live-action scene then there should be no disconnect for the viewer.
We aren't going to be treated to rubbish CGI, so just blend it well enough and all should be fine.

There is an issue with CG in any form though, and that is it can only be reliably reproduced at the resolution it was created at.
Film reproduces a far higher resolution that what is actually necessary for theatre exhibition.
So incorporating CG into anything shot on film is always going to be a bit of a concern 20 or 30 years down the line, as the image commited to the film from camera is likely always going to look better than the CG that was produced at the same time.

There should have been a 'shiny' in there, just like there should have been a 'do you...'. I've no problems with CGI if it's done right, but quite often it isn't. There's little wrong with Marvel's CGI generally, hell, even Bay can make it work, but leave it to Fox or Sony? No...

With regards to JPW's takings, that doesn't equate to people liking it. Absolute dross makes a fortune cos entire families go. Or in James Cameron's case, females ;)

Has this thread left the front page of The Meeting Place since The Force Awakens went on general release?
Expected to break $2bn this weekend, surpasses $900ml in the US

A group of people have restored a 35mm projection print of Ep. 4, so you can enjoy the original print in HD without any of George's revisionist fingerprints all over it.
Apparently it's out there on the internet and, of course, people in suits will frown very hard upon you downloading and might send you a letter asking for some money.
Anyway, there's a nice little story here about it all.

Star Wars’ “Imperial March” is a lot less evil when played in a major key.
