Just had a whopper of a thunderstorm go right over my head. Lightning, hailstones.. the full works. People in the street scattering for shelter like insects when you lift up a rock. So in the last day or so I think I've now had virtually all the weather you can get other than snow. Just what the heck is going on up there? Jon |

And you're on the computer?
That's what happens when you live on a spinning ball of rock with an atmosphere. |

I love thunderstorms but they normally happen here in late Summer, esp near the end of August. |

Mmm, I grew up in Italy where they were frequent and dramatic, I formed a lifelong love of them and when we moved back to the UK I couldn't rely on them happening often enough naturally, so I bought a CD of "Thunderstorms in the Wilderness" by a guy called Dan Gibson and it's brilliant, 50 + minutes of proper tropical thunderstorm with rain and everything. Perfect for falling asleep to. ![]() |

It's hailing over north Manchester. |

That's me. North west of Manchester to be precise, although friends in Blackburn and central Manchester both got it as well. Proper hailstones (odd enough in May) quickly followed by a proper thunderstorm which lasted for about 20 minutes. Jon |

It's pretty well isolated TBF. I've got a decent UPS/surge protector between it and the power lines and the internet connection goes underground inside the walls. So the only way the computer is going to get hit is via me, at which point the state of the computer is the least of my problems.
personally, I think I've upset the gods. Jon |

I think being struck by lightening would be quite a good experience. So long as I lived, of course. Which I reckon I probably would tbh |

Got caught in one such storm last night whilst driving two lovely young ladies to dinner at the south end of the lake. Fork lighting, torrential rain and gentlemanly tactics everywhere. I love them. |
