Just wondering if it's going to be possible to drag any old threads (rogues gallery, photo challenge album etc) over from the DUMP?

Or will they all have to be created from scratch? It'd be a shame to have to leave them all there. :(

I think the photo thread will be started here anyway.

There isn't really a big archive apart from the winner's thread. Maybe this could be looked upon as a fresh start?

I reckon some of the old threads will surface eventually. What about the Chocolate poll?

dont see why rogues gallery couldnt just be copied across, its just a list of URLs

in fact; once EW gets off his bot he could just copy the source code straight across, the coding here is exactly the same!! :D

even the smileys look like big-chinned copies of their Dennisy counterparts :P

ROFL!

I might actually copy and paste the Photo challenge thread here before we lose it.

The smileys are probably customisable. If my memory serves, there's plenty of resources on the interwebnet for that kind of thing.

Didn't someone (JJ or KW if I recall) have some VB script thingy which dragged threads off the main forum? They used it to count posts for the 24hour threads...Could that be used to drag 'em off and pop 'em back up?

I was thinking exactly the same thing.

Okay let's get a list (I like them) together - I'll start - the next one of you who has a suggestion quote the list, add to it and post... and so forth:

A Message To You & Yours (Sticky Rules for each sub-forum)
Rogue's Gallery (but starting anew)
Photo Competition Winners Gallery (with the forum cut off defined clearly)
Photo Competition: ****** (let's see this awful topic I started at least finish)
Forum Mega Poll: ****** (let's see the Chocolate one to completion yeah?!)

...that's me done - and now off you go kids! ;)

I meant to post here.

Shall I just fire up the old Rogue's Gallery thread as is? It can be easily amended if required. It will save on a huge amount of typing.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

"Downloading" is one thing, but you can't "upload" them onto a different forum. Threads have all different users in, and I don't know of any simple way for phpBB to sort them all out and identify who's who. Not all the users have moved over, and many have changed their names. There may be some kind of migration tool, but it would risk making a horrible mess of this place.

It's much easier just to copy-pasta anything worth transferring. If you "quote" or "edit" a post on the old forum, you can copy it and post it fresh over here.
