Post subject:  How Facebook writes the word “sponsored”

this popped up in Twitter. Someone said something along the lines of “this is why I need a Quad Core processor to view Facebook” along with a screenshot of the word “sponsored” which appears in adverts on the site.

I thought I’d check. And, yes, indeed. This is the word “Sponsored”.

Code:
<div class="p_1mbk8axbtf o_1mbk8axbte">
    <div class="v_1mbk8axbts o_1mbk8axbte">
        <a class="z_1mbk8av4a_ c_1mbk8awtnf n_1mbk8au_-8" href="#" role="link" id="u_ps_0_0_i">
            <div class="g_1mbk8b10ai">
                <span class="o_1mbk8axbte v_1mbk8azgl4">Sp</span>
                <div class="o_1mbk8axbte c_1mbk8axbtr">Sp</div>
                <div class="o_1mbk8axbte w_1mbk8aum25">S</div>
                <span class="o_1mbk8axbte v_1mbk8azgl4">on</span>
                <div class="o_1mbk8axbte c_1mbk8axbtr">on</div>
                <div class="o_1mbk8axbte w_1mbk8aum25">S</div>
                <span class="o_1mbk8axbte v_1mbk8azgl4">so</span>
                <div class="o_1mbk8axbte c_1mbk8axbtr">so</div>
                <div class="o_1mbk8axbte w_1mbk8aum25">S</div>
                <span class="o_1mbk8axbte v_1mbk8azgl4">red</span>
                <div class="o_1mbk8axbte c_1mbk8axbtr">red</div>
                <div class="o_1mbk8axbte w_1mbk8aum25">S</div>
                <div class="o_1mbk8axbte w_1mbk8aum25">SS</div>
            </div>
            </a>
    </div>
</div>

Facebook’s code is painfully, painfully heavy anyway. I guess this is their way of sidestepping ad blockers - the random class names and the fragmentation of the word is done so that it’s very hard to spot, and then block.

I managed to block it though.

Around 1,500 Facebook domains are in my hosts file, redirected to 0.0.0.0 I don't have any problems with Facebook. :lol:

Seriously though, that is overkill.

If you look at the source for a page, it’s a massive heap of bloat.
