LOL! Just watching Terminator. When Arnie is breaking into the police station to get Sarah there is a dead body on the ground at Arnie's feet. When he shoots down the corridor the body jumps (in shock) at the sound of the bullets. This happens twice ![]() LOL! |

I often twitch when I see wrong physics in films. I got up and left from "Sunshine" when I saw they magically had artificial gravity *shudder* Howerer, sometimes it is so wrong it becomes entertaining ![]() http://www.intuitor.com/moviephysics/core.html |

TV and films are both full of continuity errors. I've stopped noticing (or at the very least I've stopped telling other people I'm watching with) them, mainly because it can sometimes ruin my enjoyment of whatever I'm watching. If you like this sort of stuff go to http://www.moviemistakes.com/ and waste the rest of your life. (8+) Mark |

Just had a look at that site. Do some people really have nothing better to do with their lives? ![]()
What happened to immersion and suspension of disbelief? |

Perhaps because folk are more aware of the science and tech stuff these days, so they feel qualified to point out when it's wrong. Oh for the more innocent days when you could lose yourself in a movie and enjoy it for the story and action. Who cares if a Death Star is so badly designed so you can fly down a vent in a huge ship!? |

I'm a physicist by trade, so I can't be cured by humane methods ![]() ![]() Suspension of disbelief is easy when watching The Lord Of The Rings or similar, but a film clearly set in [a heavily Americanised version of] this world means I expect them to avoid frequent glaring errors. |

Have a look here for a good example of people having too much time on their hands. Here's my favourite one:
Glaring physics and logical errors I can sort of understand. But the wrong type of washing machine? Seriously? Who gives a s***? ![]() That's a very specific type of geek to be obsessed with washing machines. ![]() |

And what idiot, in a universe where space ships, light speed drives and hover cars exist, decided that a walking elephant-type contraption would make the best ground assault vehicle? One which could be brought down by some rope. Whatever you think of Star Wars (and I like the original 3 very much), the hardware is laughable. It only makes sense if you watch it with the original Flash Gordon serials in mind. You can, of course, go mad picking apart the physics and effects in films. It’s all entertainment, and if there is a nincompoop machine involved, then I usually don’t really care (unless the film is genuinely junk, of course). |

My best spot was when watching Sliders (epic series that went down hill very quickly ![]() There was an episode where the Earth was under threat from a giant meteor. They launched a nuclear missle and all watched it ascend to the meteor. When it hit... nothing... "Ah!", the professor said, "Light travels at 136,000 miles per second!". After which, BOOM!!!! The delay of the light from the explosion travelling to earth would be cancelled out by the delay of the light from the missile travelling to the earth also. i.e. the meteor would appear to blow up instantly. I'll get me ... err ... pipe and sandals ![]() |

My 'its only a film man' comment might need a bit more explaining then. Essentially if I'm going to watch a film about a a few people drilling to the centre of the earth to restart the Earth's core I'm really not going to expect that much realism tbh. If the writers need to invent some bogus technology or imaginary physics to make the story work then I dont care. Now if I watch Apollo 13 and they make mistakes in technology or physics then its fair game to pick that apart as it is based entirely on an actual real life event. More to the point though why the hell did you want to watch The Core! ![]() |

There's one there that irritated me while I was watching the film:
