I've ordered a Signature Safety Razor from The Personal Barber

I'll post an update when it arrives, and I've tried it.

Not heard of that site but then again it's been a while since I looked into DE shaving. Any particular reason for going for that particular one? Just wondering if there's something I'm missing out on.

No reason other than it kept appearing on my FB feed and looking at the site I thought "Why not?"

Let us know how it goes.
Wet shaving always irritated my skin, so I use electric.

OK, so I received the razor, and then I received the blades which I thought were with the razor, but weren't.

So far I have tried it once, and I was tempted to say something like "SWEET JEEZUZ HOW MUCH BLOOD CAN YOU GET IN ONE FACE!" but I chose not to.

It's actually quite good. I'll admit I did nick myself a couple of times, but I think I've got the hang of how to hold it, and the correct angle to avoid face slicing.

Lady V says that the face was slightly less smooth after shaving than it normally is, but I'm putting that down to it being my first attempt and being a bit worried about ending up looking like a murder victim.

I'm sure that, with practice, the results will improve.

It will take time for your skin to adjust. Mine never got used to the cartridge blades but after a few months it was used to the razor. You will get "razor burn" for the first few weeks. I used an alum block to help. Make sure you have a good post-shave balm or lotion to moisturise the skin.

Once you master the technique you can get a really close shave.
But that does involve bearm mapping, a good pre-shave routine, multiple passes & correct razor holding (I.E. don't press, use the razors weight to do it).
Also, no canned shaving gunk.

I have now reached the stage where I can shave with minimal blood loss, which is nice!

I will look into the products suggested. At the moment I only use shaving soap applied with a brush.
