2009 The UK's largest haul of Anglo-Saxon treasure was discovered buried in a field in Staffordshire. Terry Herbert, who found it on farmland using a metal detector, said that it was a metal detectorist's dream. Experts said that the collection of 1,500 gold and silver pieces, which may date to the 7th Century, was unparalleled in size and worth "a seven-figure sum".

1980, John Bonham, drummer with Led Zeppelin, died aged 32 after a heavy drinking session.
‘Bonzo’ was found dead at guitarists Jimmy Page's house of what was described as asphyxiation, after inhaling his own vomit after excessive vodka consumption, (40 shots in 4 hours).
During live sets his drum solo, ‘Moby Dick,’ would often last for half an hour and regularly featured his use of his bare hands.
In 2007, Ludwig issued a limited edition drum kit in Bonham's memory.

I'm sure Messrs. Alcock and Brown would have a word to say about that, having made the first non-stop crossing of the Atlantic in 1919!

And until 1973 there were dozens of airlines regularly flying across the Atlantic.

It might have set a record breaking time for a commercial vehicle across the Atlantic, but it certainly wasn't the first!

And, again, that was not the first Scrabble Championship, they had been running for decades before that. That was the first International Scrabble Championship. There had been national and regional ones long before that. I think the USA started at the end of the 70s.
