http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-42346898 Interesting developments last night. A number of Tories rebelled against the government to ensure that they got a vote on the final deal (why there won’t be a referendum on it is another matter). I guess that vote will be “yes” or “no” and “no” will mean MSR having an orgy of celebration while the country bellies up and adopts WTO rules. The good news is that this is exactly the kind of control over our laws that the Brexit folk wanted - and our MPs, not Theresa May, will make the final decision. This also shows how fragile the government is. Even WITH the DUP propping it up, it can fail in key legislation. And May is going to Brussels today. She probably expected to go with better news than this. Oh, the rabid right-wing press are happily describing the Tory rebels as “traitors” because they have a narrative to maintain. |

http://www.kentonline.co.uk/thanet/news ... mp-157606/ That's right, a literal failboat. The MoD in charge of a royal yacht with a remarkably small price tag? You might as well drown the Windsors now... And that's before the inevitable security scare. |

Who still builds the large luxury yachts in the UK? (Genuine question, I used to follow the boat market, when I was younger and in the UK, but have lost track. We have naval outfitters, like Vosper Thornycroft, down on the Solent, but proper luxury craft of that size, with modern defences?) Boats of that size, with anti-submarine defences, personal submarine, anti-rocket defences etc. are very nice (and expensive), you see a lot of them up in Hamburg, for example, where they get laid up in the floating dry-docks for repair work. A lot of Arab sheiks and Russian and US billionaires have these sorts of boats, but I'm not sure where they come from. |

why not have a referendum on whether we should have another referendum on the EU. then hold a referendum or not on the result of the referendum to decide if we have a referendum on the referendum about the EU. when that is done then we can decide if we do not agree with the result of the referendum to hold a referendum ... but i can understand Nigel Farage's frustration about the EU negotiations and the remoan camp ... |

Yeah, I don't think he realises the very likely consequences of a second vote - people will be inclined to take it much more seriously.
...and he finally does some research on the current national feeling towards Brexit and flipflops again. What a shocker. I love how those who voted Remain are called "Remoaners", yet all the whinging and crying is coming from the leave camp. |

i am only conforming to stated and alleged opinion on crying and whinging leave voters. of course remoan voters are entirely above and beyond such things such as whinging and crying over spilt EU milk ... |

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-42867668 Project Fear, eh? Even the DExEU says that there’ll be a hit taken whatever kind of exit we end up with.
You have to wonder why not. |

its a report, just that, just like all reports and i have read many, does not mean its fact. if the world was flat, the key point is 'if', and most reports rely on crystal balls for prediction. but like most Govt. reports they are compiled by the civil service and civil servants which are well known for their views on leaving the EU. the only prove of the pudding (or reports) is when we leave the EU, which we most certainly will, everything else is just conjecture and hearsay ... |

It’s a report from DexEU - headed by David Davis, who is one of a staunch Leavers. They have not found anything positive to add to this - and their preferred choice has not even been included. That’s really odd, as you would expect that to be included with all the trimmings. So the government’s department responsible for Brexit isn’t warm on the idea. It’s not the Treasury griping, or the Foreign Office. It’s the Department for Exiting the EU. People who want to remain are criticised daily for “talking the country down”/ Well, looks like those who are doing the real damage are those on the opposite side of the fence. |
