A thread where we can log news stories and events that are affected or caused by Brexit. I hope this won’t be a recording of our descent into madness. To kick off:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-37374579 You may recall that a Polish man was killed in Harlow last month, in an apparent “hate crime” incident. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-37227313 Elsewhere, a Leeds woman is verbally abused whilst be interviewed by Channel 4. I posted this in the EU Referendum thread earlier.
https://twitter.com/Hayley_Barlow/statu ... 6740255744 And from the Independent in July:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/cr ... 26706.html Feel free to add what you find. |

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37428764 We know that economic shocks may well be storing up in the system for later, though. |

Well, there's a shocker. Of course there has been little impact (although the level of impact depends rather significantly on what you are looking at) - despite the vote nothing significant has changed yet. I know for example that there has been an impact of scientific funding for some medical research - projects have been delayed or pulled due to the uncertainty over the UK funding position going forward. |

I've see social media messages coming from a couple of VERY heavyweight legal firms saying they won't comply with this if it become legislation. These are people who can (and often are) happy to the take the government on in a stare-down. If May & co try to actually implement this it will get messy very quickly. |

In my line of work, the only course in the UK has shut after 15 years. I'll laugh if they force us to recruit Brits. |

Madness. I am starting to see things here, being an ex-pat, I am getting asked some funny questions and it might be harder to get work. I'm seriously looking at getting German citizenship. |

It won’t be forcing as such - more nudging you towards among the ”right choice”. Things are more subtle now than Germany in the 1930s. |
