Boundary Commission Website

I can't help thinking this is a deeply partisan swipe to entrench the Tories even further into permanent government but then I probably would think that anyway.
I'm somewhat bemused by the decision to reduce the number of constituencies given the general upward trend in population.
I don't disagree with having roughly the same number of voters in each constituency where at all possible but I would have thought it would be better to keep the number per constituency lower and increase the number of constituencies. Mind you, that would create more MP's and we all know how popular they are  .The only real way to have better representation under the FPTP system is to have more marginal seats so the politicians have to pay attention to the views of a larger number of people but it's still not great.

It makes sense that boundaries change to balance the number of voters per MP.
How exactly those boundaries change is open to debate.
