Does store music bother you? Anti-muzak campaigner enjoys the sound of silence inside M&S | Business | The Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... ks-spencer
Love that lol. Store music doesn't bother me at all unless they're playing an especially sh1te line up of current music (or local radio as it's known). But then I'm rarely in stores! Overall I like it. Can't speak for the staff! I'm struggling to even think where does play music... |

I guess it depends how loud it is. To be honest I'd probably notice it more in restaurants than shops. |

It does, a lot, but i am quite sensitive to noise in general. I used to take my lunchbreak in a bookshop as it was silent and gave me a break from London noise . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Depends on the store and on the music IMO. Silence is great but gentle soothing music that's just about audible in a more upmarket store can be quite nice. Similarly, in some stores, a bit of hip-hop or R'n'B works well. But if it's loud and/or horrible, it can be off-putting and I've walked out of stores without buying because I don't like the song. Restaurants - the best places have no music IMO. You have food and have banter. With other people around, there's already a lot of background din. Any music then has to be louder than this which can make it difficult to hear/speak. |

Store music performs a number of functions. The one you hear most about is to relax customers and put them into a frame of mind of buying stuff. The one you probably hear less about is to encourage the target demographic, and to ensure that others avoid. So a shop that plays loud modern pop music will be wanting to attract the younger customer, but the music may deter older shoppers. |
