We still kill the old way.

Odd title doesn't bode well, but I enjoyed this movie. The British Gangster Film is usually the last genre I'd watch but I saw a couple of reviews and thought I'd give it a go. The basic plot is nothing original, a long-retired East End gangster returns to London from Spain to find out who killed his brother. He reunites with his old (and I do mean old) team and they use old-school methods to find the gang responsible. So there's a bit of Get Carter, a bit of Harry Brown, a bit of Death Wish and just a hint of Reservoir Dogs. There are a few flaws with the storyline, the police are clueless and the ending ridiculously OTT, but what I liked was the acting, especially the lead role played by Ian Ogilvy, a name I haven't seen for a very long time. He is no Saint here.

If you like the idea of a movie where chav scum are brutally tortured (and who doesn't?) this one might be worth a look.

6.5 out of 10

I enjoyed it (if maybe a bit long) but defiantly one for the fans - SWMBO was with me and got a bit confused at some points and while she did see the original when it 1st came out has not watched since

So, if you haven't done so recently, you'd maybe recommend re-watching the original before going to see the new one?

Yes I would

Blade Runner 2049 is a direct sequel to Blade Runner, so anyone not familiar with the world/events of the first film would do well to watch/re-watch the first film before going to see the sequel.

Thor: Ragnarok - The first half is all incidental set-up for the second, humour that dies on it's arse/was ruined by the trailers.

The second half is the payoff and is much better. Oh, and this has some of the best fight scenes in any Marvel movie.

It's the best Thor movie, but that's like saying the original Highlander is where it's at...

Btw, if you thought Thor's Asgardian sidekicks were hard done by before... Well, this is pretty much an insult.

Overall, the film is a strange mixture of Fifth Element, Empire Strikes Back, and Guardians of the Galaxy. And it's as weird as that sounds.

Still sounds enticing enough to go and watch. Something I found out was that there's no solo Hulk movie (which we all kind of knew) but what will happen is that there will be a complete Hulk movie spread across three Marvel films. No idea if it's obvious in Thor 3 since I haven't watched it.

Can't really say much more without spoilers, but I found it to be a Thor reboot in time for Infinity War.

Can't really say much for Hulk in this since he's used purely for comedy. There's times it's more Asterix and Obelix than Thor and Hulk.

Just watched Le Mans documentary on Amazon. It is one of their own documentaries. I watched it in in 4K. It really shows what 4K can bring.

I'm not usually one for such documentaries, but it was very well shot.

Sully
Directed by Clint Eastwood. It's a biographical film about the pilot who flew Flight 1549 which lost both engines and was landed on the Hudson River.
Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart star and both are excellent in their roles. The whole film feels subtle and understated. Well worth a watch.
Tempted to give it a 5/5.

John Wick
I watched this film because I saw memes about it on 9gag. Basically a "retired" assassin comes back for vengeance. Very slick and stylish. Some plotholes but nothing to detract from the enjoyment. Solid 4/5.

John Wick 2
Well if you watched the first one, you have to watch the sequel. Which was good. But nowhere near the original. Had some fun moments but I didn't enjoy it as much as the original. 3/5.

Baby Driver has to be one of the most overrated films going. It starts off incredibly well and just gets incrementally boring.

It's all very well made, it's just that you couldn't give a stuff about the players. They're well written, but they're all just stock characters!

Even worse, after so much fannying about, time and logic go out the window by the end. All just to tie it off neatly.

Technically great, but barely interesting.

I bloody loved it I did
