Saving Private Ryan? 1998 was a pretty poor year for films, but I'd sooner watch Armageddon again than SPR.

For me the list is very decent though.

The list is very, very wrong.

For starters, Return of the King is rather poor, overly long and mawkish and Inglorious Basterds is utter shart.

I'm struck by how few of these I've seen.

Limiting it to the best film per year is a bit daft - you could have half a dozen corkers one year and nothing but dross the next.

There are about 8 or nine films in that list I disagree with, but maybe they were the best on offer during those years. I'd largely agree with the first dozen on the list, although I haven't seen Life Is Beautiful.

Django unchained surprises me, because I thought it was over-rated sh!te, and there were a fair few decent films released in 2012.
