It can't be that bad, surely? ;)

Also, WTF is GMP doing tweeting about something without the full facts and that could have become a genuine case later on?

You clearly didn't go in the right pubs.

Been there a couple of times with some mates. The second time we were there we were propositioned by a working girl, and stopped by a guy openly carrying a gun - he wasn't interested in us, he just gave us a description of some other bloke and (reasonably politely) asked if we had seen him. That was just walking to the pub!

Other than that, both nights out were excellent.

There are rough bits and rough people in Manchester certainly. But it's no different to any other in City in that regard. Manchester's unique feature at the mo is possibly that there's more mahoosive holes in it than any other city...

I've lived in Manchester for almost 16 years, and I'm in no rush to leave.

This ^.

I've been to Manchester a number of times as I have friends living there and for the most part I had a great time.
Some parts are a bit ropey but that's true pretty much anywhere you go. They also don't have a monopoly on people being @rseholes.

If I could find a job there I'd happily swap Peterborough for Manchester.

 My cousin had to do a training course up there and one of his colleagues went to Canal Street... That was 20 years ago and he still gets ribbed about it!

I pretty much go to Canal Street every time I go out in Manchester, it's just part of the night out - not being homophobic helps. Lots of girls chat to you in gay clubs. :p

S'true. but you have to be careful, after all, y'know..
I've been to Canal street quite a few times with people who are much more familiar with it than me. Great night out
