Hey folks! Title isn't a joke, me and Miss Blue decided (15 minutes ago) we'd like to get away, so we're packing a bag and going to start driving, we've got no destination or time limit (except the UK as Miss Blue doesn't have a passport) being we're both on holiday this week, and we're going to try and find somewhere cheap and quick to lay our heads tonight! As a long shot I thought I'd see if anyone has a room (or couch) they can put us up on tonight? Yeah I said long shot I know! Obviously we'd be happy to pay a little for the privilege (and repay the favour in future) and aren't fussy, it's just about the adventure and finding somewhere/meeting new people! Again, lot shot I know but hey, you don't ask you don't know! Right, off to post on Facebook, have a bath and pack a bag!! |

Thanks Bratty! We've found our stop for the night though, a B&B in Catworth south of Peterborough. Luckily they were taking late night guests (considering they are in the middle of nowhere) and have provided us with an excellent location to lay our heads for the night! Tomorrow we'll explore here and then decide if we can stomach another half day on the road with no destination and hopefully less rush hour traffic! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You don't need a passport to get around Europe. My wife came to the UK the first time with just her ID card. It was only 2 years later that she got her first ever passport, when we made a trip with the kids. |

Aw man, if I'd realised which direction you were heading... I live in Peterborough! Peterborough Cathedral is worth a visit. There's a museum in the city centre as well and also Flag Fen a bit further to the north of the city if you fancy seeing some Bronze Age stuff. If you head out towards Cambridge (after the morning rush hour) then St Ives is quite picturesque. There's also the Raptor Centre out that way if you fancy seeing a bit of falconry. If you are lurking round the area I'm game to meet a fellow forumite (and spouse of course) for a bite to eat or a beer this evening once I'm back from work! |

I thought they were bringing in compulsory ID cards about a decade ago... ![]() |

They keep cropping up, proving to be massively expensive and unpopular and then go away again |

Home again. Long story short we went for a walk and then got a park and ride into Cambridge today and spent the day browsing the sites, after much debate we decided to head home and have just got back. Lovely day. Lovely adventure. Lovely city. I'm gutted I didn't check into the forum earlier again today though as I would've been up for meeting [you] Davros and one of the forumites was kind enough to offer us a room which we would've taken! Next time though! We're definitely going to holiday on a whim again, much fun was had! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
