I'll post some more when I get time but here is one of my favourite pictures from Venice. Taken with an iPhone 6 and no filters applied.

Where in Italy did you go? Where did you stay? Any recommendations or advice would be welcome.

I wanted to take the missus to Verona but finances aren't allowing it at the moment.

Went to Jesolo, Venice, Milan, Lake Garda and Sestri Levante. As for where we stayed I can offer my holiday planning services for a small fee :D

I think Grande Hotel Gardone in Lake Garda is what I was looking at. Never heard of Jesolo or Sestri Levante. Venice and Milan sound good.

Nobody has heard of Sestri Levante. It's where the Italians go to holiday and they keep it quiet. Plus there is an hour and a half of death road to get to it which may help keeping people away.

One of the top 10 beaches in Italy and an amazing town. Near Portofino.

I spent some time in Sorrento and loved it. There's no sandy beach if that's what you're after but it's a beautiful place. The region also grows lemons the size of your head!

As a base it's very convenient for a ferry ride to Capri, Ischia, Amalfi and Positano or a train ride to Vesuvius, Naples and Pompei although if I went without kids I'd be renting a soft top and driving the Amalfi Coast. The roads and scenery are stunning.

You should change it to something like GCHQ_Internet_Monitor to scare the neighbours

We had been considering MI5 or CIA something but thought that might get her in trouble

I used to rep the Grande. Stayed there once as well. Beautiful, but dated.

We used to refer to it as an example of "faded opulence". Which describes most of the bigger properties along the western shore of Garda & those is Stresa, Maggiore.

Nice pics, Caz.

My friends live 2 miles from Salo in Villanuova so we stayed with them when in Lake Garda area. Apart from the last night when we stayed at a posh hotel on the lake which was amazing. After Milan we were going to explore the lake further but my colleague persuaded us to check out Sestri Levante and I'm very glad we did.

Thanks re: the pics 8-) :) I'm rather chuffed with them
