You certainly still see them in any number of new American TV shows... I mean I could understand people in the services using them, but that's about it. I had one years ago and just found it annoying, but that might have had more to do with it being an LG POS to start with.

My first ever mobile phone was an Ericsson T18s. reminded me of Captain Kirk thats why ;)

Really a design classic of its era. The obvious flaw for todays os's is lack of screen size, but back then it was a phone which ended a call when you shut the lid. Remember those horror stories about massive phone bills from not ending the call?

I had one of those Matrix-ey phones where the 'flip' actually popped out when you put it to your head. Nokia 7110 I think? Gave very good service as I recall.
