While people doing the actual shift work know this, the ones employing just don't seem to care. At least, that's my experience of it. Mark |

I read about this and can tell from first hand experience that shift work basically messes everything up. You're more likely to have accidents or make mistakes. You're not able to think straight or make proper decisions compares to normal shifts. We are designed to be daytime creatures so it's obvious that shift work will cause problems. Sadly, hospitals used to have on call rooms for doctors where they could rest after a night shift. They phased them out and we would have to drive home tired. Numerous times I would nod off at the lights. |

I did shift work for years and adapted very well. I never made any mistakes and rarely felt tired at work. As someone in this thread knows I am a bit of a night owl. |
