Any recommendations or must-dos? Just arrived in Phuket & we're here for 5 weeks with no plans beyond the next 4 nights...

I have.
If you go to Chang Mai in the very North you can go on guided hikes (about 3 days) into the hill tribes. Jungle hiking and then staying at the top of mountains with views for miles. You sleep in proper accommodation not tents.
Also Kao Sok (I think) has a floating guest house. You can go snorkelling, fishing, boat trips etc... You can see the jungle and monkeys in the trees.
I was there with a 4 week guided group tour thing. There is a place to the west of Bangkok called Kanchanaburi or something. There are some awesome old temples there.
Also, there's a river that had some temples on it. You can stay on the river for a few nights and explore the temples during the day.

I'd say don't. More hassle than they're worth.

Having enough trouble carting my girlfriend around anyway! A wife would be worse Thanks Oli. Chiang Mai may be on the agenda depending on budget, but I hear it's cheaper up there anyway. So far the £12 a night hotel room is luxurious. But need more sleep tonight to get over the 24hr transit period.

And you know that through personal experience? How many wives have you had?

Visit the old capital on the mainland - Ayutthaya Fly over to Koh Samui and drive around, there is the big golden buddah, a mummified monk wearing raybans and this: clicky

I don't think it's legal for women to marry women out there but yes I do know from personal experience. It doesn't have to involve me marrying one.

I also know someone who has, (or had) a Thai bride. I have to agree with Caz on this one, Dave. Just saying...

That's the problem with mail order. When it arrives it looks nothing like what it does in the catalogue.
