I just ordered a tablet that even if the cashback offer wasn't included still worked out £12 cheaper than Amazon (and with free delivery)... Amazon is currently too dear for most things I find.

If you're subscribing to the TV service anyway the quicker shipping and Kindle book rental might be useful to ya, but the way things are going with their pricing and free Kindle library*, I can't see too many taking them up on it. It's a large chunk of cash for a lot of 'unknown'; films and TV shows get pulled all the time, you might not order as much stuff from Amazon over a year than you'd think, and reading books these days? Apart from a myriad of issues there, physical books were often why people use/used Amazon in the first place!

*It's the most random books that are included, and I don't think I ever found a section that showed what was available for you to judge whether it was worthwhile.

It all comes at a cost though: Amazon Prime membership is going up to £79 a year (it's currently an annual fee of £49).
While that works out at £6.50 a month - just a shade more than Netflix will set you back - there's no option to pay monthly so you'll have to come up with the £79 chunk in one go every year.
However, current Prime members will get the video goodness added to their account for no extra cost until their renewal date.
If you're not too fussed about speedy delivery, you can opt to stick with just the Prime Instant Video option for £5.99 a month, while fans of physical media and the Lovefilm brand can still subscribe to receive physical DVDs in the post by signing up to Amazon Lovefilm.

The difference for the one day delivery of 51p a month is actually very good value if you plan to get items throughout the year.

My experience is a negative one, 8 things ordered during the membership, only 2 arrived next day (despite ordering before 10am too), 2 took over a week in transit, I got a free month on the service due to the delays (only 1 month free on the trial allowed) but certainly wouldn't use it again unless house sharing with people who all use it.

I think it's down to the number of different suppliers. DPD I know are excellent (and the depot is near my house) but Yodel and Royal Fail were dire (RM lost a Christmas present on a prime delivery and the replacement arrived quicker than it did!)

I would only consider it if I was using Amazon Instant as it is now called. Otherwise very pricey if you only use it for faster deliveries.
