Taxpayer loses out on billions as Government admits Royal Mail was sold for less than half estimated value

Headline a bit cheeky as the final selloff price was less than half the highest estimate, so the reality would probably have not been at such a loss. But in written answer to a parliamentary question the Minister for Business has admitted the final sale price was actually below the value of the lowest estimate they'd received from any of the firms bidding to handle the sell off. And the government set the sale price.

They stole it. I'm sorry, but there's no other way to describe it. They stole Royal Mail from all of us and gave it to their friends for a fraction of it's actual value.

Hardly surprising by a government that does not know the value of anything.

My Dad was pestering me to buy shares. He said back then that the shares were dirt cheap.

I wouldn't have been able to profit from it without it rattling round my head, the sale really was a national scandal and at the highest level.
