Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Are you sure it's plugged in?

I did 1st line for 2 years and was getting 16k (that's an average wage for the job). Mainly it was answering the phone and trying to sort out the problem. For the most part it was turn it off and on again. We used VNC to connect to the computers remotely if we needed to.

I also did 2nd line for just over a year for 18k. Gone was the phone answering but then I had to know a bit more about what was going on with the computers and try to fix it if the helpdesk couldn't. Mainly I was in a little back room building or rebuilding PCs. Replacing/upgrading memory, switching out HDDs if they were knackered, reinstalling Windows/software/etc... I also had to go out to branches and get on my hands and knees installing PCs and network cabling etc...

Thanks ,I was thinking along those lines ,but as I am self taught I never really thought about a job as such, ;) running my own little company day off when i want etc etc ,but we are having such a bad summer I thought I might investigate a little further ,20 - 25 k tax free seemed a little high so i was interested what people were getting in the U.K.

Well I just tried the domain that they use for their e-mail.

I was pretty surprised to find that it was parked. I'd expect a reasonably sized company (which this must be) to at the very least have a one page presence on the internet. It's pretty unprofessional to have the domain parked.

Hi Paul,

The role is pretty much a straight forward generic IT support position, involving telephone and email support as well as floor walking. The ideal candidate will have solid hands on knowledge of Windows, Active Directory and Exchange. In addition any HP blade server and Citrix experience would be beneficial.

Please send your CV and contact details if this is of interest.

We are a new business and officially open for business in the beginning of September, however we are already placing candidates. Our website will be live on August 31st.

Kind regards,

Angelique.

You have to be a strong man to do 1st line as they get the most abuse ;)
