I've had an invite from a friend to attend an open evening at the local Masonic lodge in February. Anyone reckon I should attend?

In all honesty, I think you should. Freemasonry as I understand it is very much a community and 'brotherhood' organisation, they do a lot of good work for charity and everything I've heard about 'real' freemasons, says they are a good bunch of people trying to make a difference in their community. At the very least I'd say it was worth a visit, even if you decide it's not for you.

Yes they do a lot of fund raising for charities like the RNLI.
