I just had to do a [LIFTED] tutorial on how not to avoid paying eBay fees. Bastards.

Just two experiences I've had with eBay today:

Attempt to list an item, go through ALL the steps to the very last page, click to submit..."oh sorry, only free P&P allowed on this item that's ridiculously expensive to post, this has nothing at all to do with the fact that this way we get more out of our final value fee".

Secondly..."We've removed your item due to a breach of policy"...the offending words? "Open to offers" on a listing which was But It Now or....BEST OFFER!!!!!!!

[LIFTED] CHEESE-EATING SURRENDER MONKEYS!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that's just today, I've had to put up with all sorts of similar [LIFTED] over the past few weeks. Trying to list on eBay successfully should be used as a form of torture.

I have sent "them" an e-mail stating that their listing experience is [LIFTED], and that I intend to vote with my feet as soon as I find a suitable alternative through Google.

It's exactly this sort of thing that is the reason I'm in the middle of setting up an online auction site myself (going to be a specialist site though, for classic cars and parts). I've come across quite a few people that hate ebay with a passion because of policies like that. I think they're getting worse all the time, I just use them for buying stuff from. Selling on there seems too much of a hassle these days.

A friend of mine used to run a business in second hand CDs, making not bad cash.

He's now so sick of the BS that he's giving up on it, and hoping to move to another site when he can work out which is the best to use.

If £bay wanted more revenue, why didn't they just keep the fees the same and move to advertising income like just about everyone else on the net?

Buying from ebay isn't awful.

Selling on ebay is.

I wouldn't say buying is the easiest thing...There are still loads of people out there saying things like "SOOPA FAST PUTA - DUAL CORE CPU THAT'S 6GHZ!" It's not awful, but can be monotonous, if not challenging, to filter out the crap and to find out what exactly something is.

My dad asked me to sell some stuff for him on Ebay. I couldn't face setting up all the crap so I just said I didn't know how to do it.
I also hate ebay when it comes to getting refunds for products that haven't arrived. (Long story)

TBH, I find those listings quite funny. The level of fail is just unbelievable.

As stated above, buying from ebay is largely hassle-free. It's the selling that gets ya.

About three years ago, I sold three identical items to three buyers. Each item was delivered using registered delivery in the protective package I received it.

Two of the buyers received it without any problems. The third buyer stated he hadn't received it. I gave him the tracking number and the link to the royal mail website. It showed the pic of the signature. He claims it wasn't his signature. I contacted RM who, after a week, turned round and said because the item had been signed for, it was seen as delivered (regardless of the fact it wasn't the addressee's signature).

To this day, I don't know who was lying - the buyer or RM (given that it could easily have been the postman signing it himself).

I've bought and sold on eBay since 2004, never had any problems doing either, but the feedback system isn't as good as it used to be.

I've never had an issue, and I've sold a reasonable amount of stuff just as and when i have crap to clear. I don't buy much, but mainly because I seldom see the need to.
