I thought the whole point of double-yellow lines was to signify that those were places where parking would significantly hinder traffic flow. if it's acceptable to park there for 15 minutes, take the sodding yellow lines away then. |

There's a left hand corner, on a reasonably steep hill here. There's a car park entrance on the bend too. It's double yellows, but at the weekends it's usually covered with cars. Which means coming up the hill, your turn the corner to find a line of cars, forcing you onto the other side of the road into oncoming traffic - you've got a reasonable chance of not seeing what's coming down. Add into that traffic entering/leaving the car park, and it's blindingly obvious why it's a double yellow. Grinds my gears. |

We already have single yellow lines for restricted parking, I thought? |

If the double yellows are there for valid reasons then you park on them at your peril. If you get a ticket tough. (Disable permit allowed). No need to change the rules maybe change the areas covered by them but not the rules. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta |

The disabled badge still does not allow you to park dangerously. Maybe a tough higher grade where any parking including disabled badge is banned, like red routes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk. |

Heard the president of ... erm... the AA or something on the radio. He was saying that they're trying to change this. Initially yes, the double yellow lines were put there for a reason. Entrance to a school, narrow roads, hospitals, whatever. Except now, some of those are no longer needed, the schools have been turned into houses or closed or whatever. He was arguing that they should review the placement of these types of double yellow lines that are potentially no longer needed rather than have some confusing system in place where you may or may not be able to park for a certain length of time etc... Made sense to me. |

I doubt that there are lots of those cases. There may be some. Though shouldn't the highways authorities review the traffic restrictions when there is a change of use i.e. schools close or road becomes no through road. Common sense would be a better idea than changing the law to allow anyone to park where ever they want for 15 minutes. My local high street is narrow and even lorries delivering can block the road for some time. |

+1 Either cars parking there will cause traffic chaos, or they won't. If not, ditching the lines (as recently suggested on Top Gear) could help save town centres. |

I think the AA are correct. If the lines are no longer needed, because there is no longer a hazard, then they should be reclassified. If they are still needed, because parking there would cause a problem, block access, restrict access for emergency services etc. Then they should remain as double yellow and you shouldn't be allowed to park there, end of story. |

Ahh but that would cost money and also lose the council revenue when they ticket people for packing on the lines that are not needed - so no chance of it happening |

I accept that, but what is needed is a way for the lines to be reviewed to remove unnecessary lines. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk. |
