A random poll.
I've never liked vacuum cleaners, but since first using a backpack vacuum cleaner in 2008 I've detested any other model. If only they were more common.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

We have a Siemens VS model, the current model designation is VS08G2511, but ours is a couple of generations older. 2500W with supercharger, anti-allergy filter, variable power and a range of different fittings. It works very well at picking up all the dog hairs! It has also been very robust, I bought it in 2008 and it has a fair few scratches, but still works at full power.

I have a hoover. I'm not as geeky as Dave. I can't remember the manufacturer or the model.

We've got an industrial wet/dry pull-along affair. It works really well but scares the cats.

I’m not bothered by the kind - I really hate the noise they make. I wish they were quieter.

We have an orange and blue Vax. It's a monster, really too big for the house to be honest, and horribly noisy, even on the low setting. It's a wet and dry thing, so it can be used to shampoo carpets (not that we have any) and extract water from things.

You along with most cats and dogs. I don't mind the noise unless I have a hang-over, but the heat they throw out is terrible in the summer. Some of them are over 2KW, which is bonkers! I wish they were not so horribly inefficient. It's also too bloody big to store anywhere, so it sits in the hall way tripping people up. I imagine less than 10% of the power is delivered in actual suck, the rest just being blown out as hot air. 2KW of actual air movement would suck up the entire house, along with any ghosts in a 10 mile radius: Air has a density of ~1.2Kg / cubic meter. Using E= 1/2mv^2 and a cross sectional area of 25cm^2 gives an unimpeded nozzle velocity of 110m/s which is about 260mph. Anyone care to measure the actual velocity, possibly using a ping-pong ball and a video camera? I suspect it's nearer 10m/s.
