That kinda works as as the perfect description for everything that man has done with his presidency.

My neighbours. Not the troll-like shouty ones, but the other side. The fiercely territorial one. About a year and a half ago, he decided to cat-proof his garden. He rather insensitively told me about it (after I told him that one of my cats had cancer and had not much longer to live). Even though he told me it wasn’t my cats he was trying to keep out, he was pretty much contradicting that by lashing up his gate (we share an access corridor to the front of the terrace) with wire and the fence the connects out garden.

Spool forward to Easter, and he’s leaving his back gate open. He told my wife over the weekend that he was doing this because his shed has mice in it now, and his wife doesn’t like them. He thought that if he opened his gate, the cats would go in and sort out the mouse problem. We knew the cats were mousing there, and they kept the population down, but not since the barriers went up.. Thing is now, the cats don’t go in the neighbour’s garden any more - they “shop” elsewhere.

This is, for me, hilarious. He’s totally failed to understand how this kind of thing works, and that our cats have, for the past 14+ years, kept his garden mouse population down.

I don't keep cats and am to some degree allergic to them (triggers my asthma; dogs do it too). Quite a few of the neighbours have cats. One of them lives opposite and almost always comes to the front window of its house whenever I come home and part my car. It appears to watch me park and then runs off, which can be quite unsettling. Other neighbours' cats run around the neighbourhood and have had a few in my garden leaving stool samples for me. I have previously toyed with the idea of non-harmful deterrents (especially as they seem to like digging into my vegetable patch) but I do know they keep mice in check so I've tolerated them and put up physical barriers where I need them to stay away from.

I've been desperately trying to deter a cat from hanging around my house and garden. I've failed so far and the wife isn't best pleased about my efforts either. It is her cat after all.

From the Digital Spy forums about 'celebs you have met':

I've never seen as many negative opinions about anyone as I have about Cilla. I don't think I've met/chatted to anyone particularly famous but they do say it's best NOT to meet your heroes. Anyone done that and been pleasantly surprised?

I have met and spoken to several famous computer games developers, (famous from the 80's and 90's) and with one exception they have all been beyond nice.

I also used to live next door to Terry Marshall, (the son of Jim Marshall, the amp guy) and his wife and son, and they were all the nicest people you could hope to meet.

Suzi Quatros’s car. Not, as you might expect with a name like that, an Audi.
