the Govt (bless all their little cotton socks) have decided that all the population will have to be vaccinated against 'swine' flu but please bear in mind that certain events are still ongoing such as …
all my family will sit down this weekend and make a decision so what will you decide 'to be vaccinated or not to be vaccinated' that is the question … |

Best Beloved is of an age where he gets an annual flu jab. A vaccination for the vulnerable is probably a good thing. Vaccinating everyone needs thinking about. |

I’ve generally avoided the flu jabs as so far the immune system has been pretty good at fighting them off. Idid have one once, and was told (after it was administered) that it would not work against the strains predicted for the coming winder. What, I thought, was the bloody point of sticking the needle in me then? A fall into the bracket where I’d get i for free, being of an asthmatic disposition. Given all the scare news stories around, I’ll be in the “vulnerable” bracket. I get the feeling that if I didn’t get vaccinated this time, a lot of people would be worrying about me, so I’ll have to someone overcome my morbid fear of all things medical and get one done. EDIT: I think this has made the decision for me. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8148709.stm I’ll also go and live in a sealed plastic tent somewhere. |

For the “normal” pre-season flu I never had jabs – work used to offer them to any staff that wanted them. My reasoning was If I don’t get fu then I have someone jab a needle into my arm for no reason If I do get flu I get X weeks off work Now with the Swine Flu esp if it is getting more virulent then I may well take it |

There's a Tamiflu resistant strain identified in Denmark, so I'd think it prudent to vaccinate those most at risk and leave the fit to fight it naturally. Mandatory vaccinations wouldn't make much sense, imho. |

If they are giving it to everyone then I don't see why not. Having said that, my gran always got the flu jab and she tended to get flu like symptoms for a few days afterwards anyway. I guess that's just how the vaccine works. Given that the swine flu seems to be taking out a few people without any underlying health problems a vaccine is a much safer bet than risking the actual virus. |

also a bit of an update … Baxters have a case laid against them in the US in regard to a deliberate attempt to create a pandemic and that the 'swine' flu vaccine has been genetically altered … |

Well, looking at it dispassionately, if we can shed a couple of billion humans, climate change won't be so hard to cope with. |

It}s school play season, and other half’s school is in full swing this week. I tried to persuade her to get the ids to just stop half way through, and all say “we are coming back” for a laugh. I failed. |
