Has anyone here tried a memory foam mattress topper? Pros/Cons? I'm thinking of giving one a go, instead of of coughing up £££ for a new mattress. I'll be getting a new mattress eventually, but it's too much money to consider, right now. |

I've got a memory foam mattress now - had it for about 18mths - takes a bit of getting use to as you can feel a little hotter at night. Previously had a water bed which was bliss but too much maintenance You can get various firmness of memory foam so make sure you pick one suitable for you. Mine cost around £300. |

You spend at least 25% of your life in bed, don't scrimp. |

I didn't mean to imply that you were. I only have a memory foam pillow so far (moving around too much) and it is one of the best things I've ever bought. |

I got a new mattress last year, but didn't go for the memory foam option at the time. Saw a fairly cheap memory foam mattress topper in one of those cheap stores (B&M or InStore) and it makes so much difference to a good night's sleep. Highly recommend getting one as it does iron out those little lumps and bumps - even on my new mattress, though it was only a budget bed that I bought as I'm renting so will have to leave it behind. Go for it, it'll make a huge difference to your night's sleep. Only thing I'd say is try and find one with corner fastening straps to secure it - if you're a figdeter in your sleep you might find it moves and wanders about a bit otherwise! |

I had a memory foam mattress before my split with my wife, had to leave it and since been sleeping terribly (it was specific back problems I got the memory foam one for). I've never heard of mattress toppers until this thread. I'm going to investigate now. Thanks, Spreadie! Mark |

Mark, as I said, have a look in B&M or Home Bargains - they do a double bed size memory foam mattress topper for about £25 to £30. Well worth every penny for a sound sleep. |

Is that all? I thought I was looking at £100 for a decent topper. Which is a sight better than £800 for a decent mattress. |

Did you try google shopping? There were prices much lower than that. |

Homebase does one for £70 which is secured at the corners. (8+) That's a good starting place considering there's a store just up the road from me. Mark |
