http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-18718087 No idea if it's a good thing or not. When VW took over Audi, all of the good quality leather/plastics etc went into the Audi, which meant the MK5 interior was worse than the MK4. |

Give my sisters experience of the brand, if it's build quality drops much lower, they'll be eaten alive by the likes of Hyundai. |

VW took over Audi back in the 70s... Porsche tried to take over VW in 2009, when the market collapsed, but VW is part owned by various states in Germany and they didn't want to give up their stakes in the company, so the bid failed and it severely weakened Porsche, which left them open to this "retaliation" from VW - Piech, the CEO of VW also owns a part of Porsche and Posche Holdings in Austria, the Austrian importer of VW. As part of the Porsche family, there has always been rivalry between "Piech's" VW and the Porsche company. Whichever way it goes, the Porsche family are laughing. |

So the VW group consists of VolksWagen, Audi, Skoda, Karmann, Porsche, Seat and Bentley. Isn't Bugatti in there too? You'd think that mix would produce some rather special cars that we available to more than the super rich, wouldn't you? |

Pretty sure that Lambourgini is in that group as well as it was bought by Audi a while a go. |

I forgot to say, that there is actually a law that the States have a stake in VW, Porsche tried to get the law revoked, but failed, which is why they couldn't buy VW. |

I presume you meant the constituent States of the Federal Republic of Germany, rather than the USA? Because the latter would be rather scary
