I await for other adaptations of video games to films. Space Invaders is one. However, the 4 hour epic that will be Pong is one to look forward to.

I look forward to the adaptation of the Atari VCS game cartridge- Combat. All those pink tanks on the battlefield shooting guided missiles and for some strange reason, the bi-planes doing the same.

The CGI of the planes and tanks spinning widely after being hit, before moving on would be interesting.

And yes, Pong FTW. They could get Keanu Reeves to play one paddle, he's so wooden. :lol:

What was the name of that game I played at Uni? It had a knight and he had to rescue a princess. It was done via videodisc and the animation was well ahead of it's day.

I have no idea, but it immediately reminded me of "Prince of Persia" - and about a million other games, including Mario and Princess Peaches :lol:

"what's that thing, you know, the one where the hero rescues the princess in distress"?

Dragons Lair. It was a sequence of animations on a laser disc essentially. You just chose an action and the next bit of FMV (full motion video) played depending on your choice.

There was another video disc game called Mad Dog McCree with live action and each sequence depended on your actions in the previous. It was one of my favourites, but I only got as far as Mad Dog himself a couple of times and never killed him.

I've got the game on CD-ROM and I will NOT get rid of it. I'll have to try it on my old DOS machine sometime but it isn't in an easy place to play such a game (the corner of my garage).

I have it on DVD somewhere. Bloody hard to control with the remote. Thankfully, there is an option to run through it without playing it.

The animation was by Disney refugee Don Bluth, who did films such as Titan A.E.

I was lucky to get past the saloon sometimes! We had it on the CD-i (that takes me back!).

I forgot, even though it was mentioned first, that I have got Dragon's Lair on CD-ROM as well. It came in a great big pack of discs when I bought some hardware. I never got into it at the arcade- I normally got killed on the first move :? so I didn't give it a thought this morning.

Brilliantly, that's supposed to be a young lad in the artwork there - I'll have half a teaspoon of whatever the artist was on, please ;)
