Hi.

I hope someone can give me a helpful suggestion. We are having a good sort out at home and have a mountain of towels, some of which have never been used, but which we don't want.

I have no idea if this sort of thing would be really wanted in a charity shop (apart from the still-labelled ones anyway) so I was wondering if any charity or other organisations might make practical use of them- RSPCA, night shelters or anything really.

Sensible ideas appreciated, but good laughs welcome as well!! :)

I've only ever done it with a chicken so far, but if required I wouldn't have any problems doing it with other animals at all.

I am off down to the local civic amenities site soon (so much easier to say "tip") and I suppose it's none of my business what happens next, it's just a shame because some of them are still in really good nick, but I'm not sure I'd want to buy a second-hand towel that may have been up someone's... well, never mind!! LOL.

I am going to keep a couple for my dogs, but after that, I suspect it will be recycling.

Lay out some chairs, cover them with towels. Now you have a fort.

I use towels as padding between my stored alloys.

Can't you cut them up and use them as dusters, or something similar?

Thanks, all. Funnily enough, james, I have just got rid of a dining set of table and four chairs as well as the towels (they've gone) so I could have had endless hours of fun.

Don't need more dusters, John. I've just taken three bin-bags full of towels. I don't like housework enough to make use of that many!!

I don't know if they are going for recycling or not. Two guys at the CAS told me to put the bags in two different places but they ended up in a trolley, so might be used in some way.

It's quite amazing how much cr*p you can get rid of when you stop getting sentimental and just find some time to sort stuff out. I recently got rid of two or three bags of clothes, some of which I may have been a little sentimental about but haven't worn for years!
