Right, in no particular order, here's a bunch of the good-very good ones:

Year One
A Death in the Family
Hush
Knightfall
Prodigal
Contagion
Venom
Cataclysm
No Man's Land
Bruce Wayne Murderer/Fugitive
War Games/Drums/Crimes
Shaman
Prey
Long Halloween
Dark Victory
Ten Nights of the Beast
The Killing Joke
Legacy
Under the Hood
Joker's Asylum
The Superman/Batman books are good of the ones I've read at least.
Also, if you're not averse to a simpler art style, check out any of the 'Adventures' collections inspired by the original 90s cartoon series, they're excellent.

Some of the books above are one-shots, many are enormous in every sense. I mentioned 'good-very good' because there are quality aspects to all of them, while some just excel :D

Anyway, my advice would be to buy them second-hand, I got most of the above in large bundles from eBay ;)

Forgot Year 100, and to mention that some of the books are outside of official continuity, or have Batman in a different setting - the past, the future, tropical jungle...

Christ, that reminds me, check out the crossover books - Predator, Aliens, Spawn, Punisher, even Spider-Man! They're all cheap enough on eBay etc last time I looked to be worth satisfying your curiosity :D

Eliza Dushku is only voicing Catwoman?
So close, and yet so far...

Did you ever order Year One? And what did you make of Arkham Asylum if you read it?

Not got Year One yet. Not even read Arkham Asylum.

Exams at the mo means I can't dedicate any time currently to anything other than revision. Exams will be over in a week's time so will fill you in then.

Currently reading Batman R.I.P. and it's not very good. Guess who the author is. :(

It always starts with a brilliant concept before becoming a shambling mess with him...

Not sure about the brilliant concept but it did indeed become a shambling mess. :)

I guess I should have said the concept of him dying lol, who takes over from the Bat-ranks, which villains are behind it... I genuinely believe almost anyone could create a less confusing, better paced story than Morrison :x

Gotham Knight, DVD/BR, novel :)

I've ordered it but CBA'd to wait so downloaded it and watched it.

Loved it.

The drawing style in the first one was a bit funky for my liking. The rest seems to vary in their style. Loved the story-telling though and gives some great insights - "I work through the pain"!

Yeah, the first section's tough going comparatively, I must actually get the DVD back from my mate... By the way, animated Year One is excellent, it's pretty much an exact copy of that arc, and the fight scenes are possibly the best I've seen in almost any film in recent years :o

Gah! My B:AC hasn't been despatched. Just outta curiosity, which version did you go for? I went for the Collectors Edition again, even though I got stung with a crappy batarang last time.

I actually wished they'd incorporated some of the stuff into the Dark Knight. Maybe it's just easy to make it look stylish in animation. But it did have the essence of what is (IMO) Batman.

I saw Year One when I went to order Gotham Knight.
