I agree. I thought that Ledger's performance was a look back to the Cesar Romero version of the Joker as seen in the TV show and preferred Nicholson even though I don't think he's a great actor. For me, Keaton has been the best Batman so far.

Batman to be rebooted after The Dark Knight Rises, probably for a Justice League movie

Rebooting already? Are they using windows or something?

Spider-Man must be using it too.

I recall there was supposed to be a series of either novels or animated films that filled the gap between (I think) BB and TDK. Does anyone recall what it was?

It's about £5 on BR now and has all the extras (some are great if Bat history interests you). I have the novel but haven't actually read it as I've misplaced it

I've managed to piece together a few things through the Batman films (Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Begins, Dark Knight), Batman Beyond cartoon series, The Dark Knight Returns gn and generally reading on the net.

Batman, for me, has always been about invoking fear into the enemy, striking from the shadows etc so as to have the psychological edge over them, rather than an all-out fistfight. This is why I quite enjoyed BB and showing his ninja training.

You got me thinking about the more psychological Batman story arcs, Arkham Asylum (Grant Morrison on top form before he disappeared up his own Bat cave) is absolutely brilliant, though it's more Batman being messed about than anything, same with Hush :)

I can't remember a thing about it except him chasing down some girl, so I probably agree

At some point I'll do a list of Bat books to avoid cos there's some tripe out there IMO :(

...

Batman: Fortunate Son
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... ntrades-20

...

Batman: Hush Returns

...

Batman: Joker's Last Laugh

A few more unfortunately (and as I always say, avoid any recent Grant Morrison stuff):

Batman: City of Crime
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... ntrades-20

...

Batman: Broken City
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... ntrades-20

...

Batman: As the Crow Flies
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... ntrades-20

Right, I should point out that I'd always advise you to walk into Waterstones etc and take a look at these for yourself, the (crap) writing's usually a good starting point ;)
